Tagitive

by Allan Sandilands

It has been forecast that up to 75 billion devices may connect to the internet by 2025. Last year alone, the world produced around 10 billion RFID (radio frequency identification) tags.

Automatic identification and data capture technologies increasingly help manage everything from food and livestock to microwaves, cars and importantly, hose assemblies.

As a hydraulic hose and related equipment business, Taipan have experienced the birth and uptake of tag-n-track asset management systems first-hand.

We’ve seen the benefits, and they are undeniable. Tagging parts and equipment has enormous potential to reduce equipment failure, cut workplace accidents and injuries, lower emergency repair costs, extend the life of an asset, increase return on investment, improve business continuity and enhance productivity.

So, we decided to build a different kind of tagging system – a universal platform designed with the asset owner in mind.

Which meant that the system needed to be an easy-to-use, single source for all information on a broad array of tagged plant and machinery (and not just another proprietary system). And to live up to the Taipan goal of being more open, we thought it would be best to launch a new brand too. Thus, Tagitive was born.

But what exactly is Tagitive?

Tagitive is a life-cycle tracking software for small to medium and mobile assets. The software is designed to utilise a myriad of identification or tag options, as well as help suppliers comply with stringent mining and industry legislation and requirements. Managing your assets together on a universal platform is far simpler than working with multiple proprietary systems. With Tagitive, you can bring your records and scheduling together onto a single platform, for simple and effective equipment management.

The benefits are many and varied. They include:

  • An easy to use, single-source for all information.
  • The ability to check assets in and out of a particular location.
  • Proactive scheduling of maintenance, tasks, inspections and end-of-life replacement.
  • The ability to track costs and compare between equipment.
  • Proof of purchase and accurate install dates, so warranty disputes are a thing of the past.
  • Customisable fields, locations and sub locations.
  • The ability to store photos, test certificates – as much or as little information as you choose.
  • All data is owned by the user and easily exportable at any time.
  • No massive subscription fees.

The software is extremely easy to use. A few clicks and you have a pretty good idea of how the system works.

Where did the idea for Tagitive come from?

Tagitive was originally designed to track hydraulic hose assemblies, as well as assist infield operators who were hamstrung by big businesses dictating terms. Tagitive provides an opportunity to create an industry where the customer owns their choices, and suppliers earn the right to business through genuine effort. It gives the little guy who couldn’t afford those massive software subscriptions the opportunity to compete in the mining and larger contract markets. Over time, it has become clear that Tagitive is a brilliant option to track and trace far more than just hose assemblies.

Is Tagitive right for you?

Tagitive is the right software for you if you are looking to track small to medium assets. And with a free demonstration account to trial, you can make that decision yourself.

Tagitive is ideal for any industry using plant and machinery, especially:

  • Natural Resources
  • Manufacturing
  • Agriculture
  • Transportation
  • Construction
  • And many others!

I guess the real question is, are you right for Tagitive?

If you think about accounting software, you have people within your organisation who dedicate their time to upholding the integrity of the data going in and the information coming out. In fact, you’ll go so far as to pay an expert to come in and train, manipulate and even build additional functionality to that software.

Tagitive is like any software, someone needs to take responsibility for the data management. You can have the simplest system in the world, which Tagitive pretty much is, but if nobody manages the data, you won’t reap the benefits of the software.

However, if a bit of data management doesn’t put you off, Tagitive may be just what you need in the long run to save you time and money.
