Taipan boasts one of Australia’s largest selections of couplers, sourced from the trusted manufacturer DNP. Let’s hear more from Taipan’s COO, Neil, about what makes a good coupler?
Q: “So Neil, what makes a good coupler?”:
A: “We all know what makes a good coupler, basically one that lasts! I for one can admit that once I find a brand that I trust, I stick with it. We know DNP couplers are of outstanding quality you can rely on. The proof is in the pudding with the near non-existent warranty claims we receive. Ultimately, our industry uses Quick Release Couplings (QRCs) as a convenience product. The ease of connection and disconnection, along with the prevention of fluid leakage, makes them an obvious choice.
There are a couple of negatives to using quick-release couplers, cost being the major factor that inhibits more use the most, but there can also be issues with pressure drop. The inner valves create turbulence in the oil, which can cause pressure drop. Most systems are usually set up accordingly, but it is something to keep in mind.”
Q: “Thanks for that, Neil! So why do couplers fail?”:
A: “My experience has told me that the most common denominator for a coupler failing is application, second only to mistreatment, usually by people who don’t own the machine.”
Q: “What can you tell us about selecting the right coupler?”:
A: “The system flow rate is one of the most important things to consider and is often misinterpreted between the rated flow rate and the maximum flow rate. Not all suppliers necessarily display this the same way.”
“The misapplication of a product to an incorrect pressure application can result in disaster. Be certain to align a quick-release coupler to the pressure of the application.”
“Keep the working environment in mind. Does the application receive excessive vibration, non-spill, or connect under pressure? Even the frequency of the coupler connection and disconnection influences the fitting selection.”
“Temperature, fluid compatibility, and even body material are all major considerations when selecting the correct QRC.”
Q: “Can you tell us a little bit about our DNP range?”:
A: “Taipan is the largest distributor of DNP couplers in Australia, which gives us access to the entire range. Each year we add to the stocked range by customer demand or our general growth in the market. The bread-and-butter items like flat face and poppet fly off the shelves, but we have you covered with screw together, jacking, Tema interchange, and even multi couplings.”
Q: “So, where can customers find and order Taipan’s quality couplers?”:
A: “Our web store is the easiest way to find and order quality couplers. Discover our range of DNP couplers and what we can supply your business. Download our digital catalogue instantly for comprehensive specs and visuals. Check out our catalogue and let us know if there is something we are missing that you want us to stock!”
