October Recap

As always, October has been another busy month at Taipan. With stock deliveries, job promotions, enormous road trips, and our customer giveaway scratchie competition, we have heaps to fill you in on…

We mentioned last month that the Taipan team were participating in Steptember to raise money for the Cerebral Palsy Alliance. Over the course of the month, the team walked over 17 million steps, raising $1205. Of course, we had to step it up a notch, so we implemented an in-house competition where, in smaller teams, we competed against each other to be named champion steppers of Taipan. We are pleased to announce that the team ‘Step Bros’, made up of AJ, Jenae, Michael and Dean, were the winning team with 2,618,827 steps! Well done guys, what an amazing effort!

Over in our Perth branch, Mitch has had a massive year. Not only is he celebrating his five years with the company, he’s recently been promoted to Branch Manager! It seems like only yesterday Mitch started with us, working on the floor in the warehouse, so it’s super exciting to see how far he has come since then. Congratulations Mitch, you’re killing it!

Over in our Distribution team at Caboolture, our awesome team member, Casey, has taken on the role of Distribution Supervisor, where she is doing an incredible job of managing and organising all the incoming deliveries. Warehouse legend, Craig, has also accepted the position of Distribution Inwards Goods Team Leader. Congratulations guys!! These guys have their work cut out for them; in the last month alone Distribution has received over 50 pallets, the stock just keeps on rolling in, and the rest of the team are having an excellent time whizzing around on the new forklift organising it all.

Our awesome Customer Relations Manager, Steve, had a massive October, starting with a short 6095km road trip around the eastern states. Heading first to Coffs Harbour, Macksville and down to Port Macquarie, Taree to Rutherford, Newcastle, and Sydney, then Port Kemble to Moruya. After a short break visiting family in Victoria, he set off on a 968km stretch from Broken Hill to his next destination, followed by another 876km stretch the following day to Coonabarabran. Luckily there were only a few small road closures due to flood water, but he was so pumped to see so much of the outback, pinning the locations he would like to visit properly with family. We might have to diversify and open a Taipan Tour Guide business at this rate.

For the last couple of years our Managing Director, Allan, has been working hard on his passion project, Taipan Farm. While there have been a couple of set backs, mostly weather related, the property is really coming along. They have recently installed brand new cattle yards, then extended them because they were too small, as well as filling the paddocks with 29 cattle. Additionally, they had 5 large earthmoving machines working flat out for a month, on what was supposed to be an extension to the small farm dam, but what has turned out to look more like a small lake, oops. There’s still a massive amount of work to do, but it’s keeping him busy when he’s not travelling around the country visiting our customers.

That’s all for us in the month of October, but come back next month to see how we’ve been getting prepped for the festive season and for a very exciting announcement: the winner of our customer giveaway! Who’s going to Hamilton Island? It could be you, so make sure you get your orders in!
