What a start to 2024. Firstly I’d like to introduce myself officially for those who haven’t met me. This is my first official blog piece as Managing Director – how scary 😛
Only kidding, being in the Marketing Department for the past few years has given me a few tips, but hey, nothing like a bit of pressure as I take on this new adventure, so here goes!
As a Taipan tradition, we like to kick the new year off with a rundown on what we have in store for the year ahead. If you didn’t get a chance to watch Al’s stepping-down video, then boy, have we got some epic things in the pipeline.Â
This year will see us on a mission to complete the following:
Advanced Warehouse and Barcoding
This is an absolute must as we grow into the next phase, and we have the perfect team on the job. Headed by our very own Project Guru Jess, I can’t wait to see everyone hustle together under her direction to fast-track the long slog that is Advanced Warehousing. If you’re not familiar with what this is, it’s a mission and a half to complete but the benefits to you as our customers are massive. Think barcoding, automation, and smart warehousing just to name a few. Not to mention how much it will help with human error when it comes to things like picking product. The benefits are endless.
Warehouse Utilisation
At the end of last year we were discussing moving into a purpose built facility here in our Head Office at Caboolture. This is still very much in the works but to ensure we are investing our time into the resources that benefit you as the customers most, we are on a mission to make sure we can last in our current location for the next couple of years. To help with this we are putting in a bucketload of new carparks, tightening up the racks, going higher with our pallet stacking in the warehouse and trying to utilise every spare inch of space as we prepare to bring in additional product to support your business.
Training
This year we are shining the light on training, for all of the right reasons. With a crazy number of requests from you guys last year, we want to ensure that we are here to help, so we are flat-out working towards building this area. Internal staff training is also right up there on the list of importance, with new branches and new people coming on board, the mission is to ensure we are all as knowledgeable as possible, and what a mammoth task that will be! But, rest assured, we have a brilliant in-house trainer Mal, who is just as committed as we are to growing our team’s product knowledge and making sure we are at the top of our game!
Most importantly, the one thing that will never leave our list is striving towards the best customer service – full stop! It’s at the forefront of our minds, and behind each and every task we roll out, so you can be sure that as we tackle a very new and exciting 12 months ahead that this will remain a constant focus.
There are a million other things we could add to the list, but for now, I think this is a decent amount for the team to work with and we can’t wait to take you along for the ride.
