Valentine’s Day

Look, is Valentine’s Day ultimately a corporate cash grab? Yes, but will we take any opportunity to dress a grown man like Cupid and ask him to skip around the warehouse? Also yes, and nobody looks better with wings than our man, Mat! Make sure you catch our 2026 Valentine’s Day video below.

Snapshot from our annual Valentine’s Day video – starring Cupid (aka Mat from the North Brisbane branch) spreading some love!

Leadership Training

We talk a big game about investing in our team, but how exactly do we walk the walk?

One of the many ways we honour our mission of continuous improvement is by offering Leadership Training to everyone in Executive or Team Leader positions.

Why do we do this? Great question! We floated it and a few other hard-hitting queries past Danielle Paterson, our People & Culture Coordinator and the mastermind behind our Leadership Training Program.

Our P&C team are the driving force behind many of our staff training, ensuring all team member have a great experience working for Taipan

Hey Danielle! Why do we offer Leadership Training here at Taipan?

We offer Leadership Training to ensure everyone who needs it, from Warehouse Team Leaders to top Management, all have the tools they need to be the best leaders to their team. If these people have the necessary skills, it goes a long way in ensuring the best possible employee experience for everyone!

What do the sessions involve?

We usually pick a topic or two which we cover in a four hour session each quarter. Our most recent topic was all about how to avoid becoming a micromanager. Other recent topics include staff development, interviewing, getting new staff members off to a great start, and how to have difficult conversations. We usually cover some background theory, do some brainstorming, and work through some practical activities.

Why do you enjoy running our Leadership Training, and what do you find most challenging about it?

I love seeing people sharing ideas and learning new skills that they can put into practice. It’s very satisfying to see people become better leaders because of all the hard work we put into training. The biggest challenge is coming up with topic ideas as we have covered so many! Luckily, the team is always requesting topics they would like to learn.
